The Global Carbon Council (GCC) continues to expand its portfolio of high-integrity climate projects with the registration of “LOC NINH 1, 2 and 3 by Super Energy Corp”, a large-scale solar power project in Viet Nam.

Located in Loc Tan Commune, Loc Ninh District, Binh Phuoc Province, the project comprises three solar photovoltaic plants with a combined installed capacity of 500 MW (AC), supplying clean electricity to Viet Nam’s national grid.

The project is owned by Super Carbon X Company Limited and has been independently verified by 4K Earth Science Private Limited, ensuring that its emission reductions meet GCC’s rigorous standards for transparency and credibility.

Scaling Solar Energy for Climate Action

The LOC NINH project demonstrates how large-scale renewable energy deployment can deliver measurable climate impact. By generating approximately 733,091 MWh of renewable electricity annually, the project is expected to reduce 603,315 tCO₂ emissions per year over its crediting period.

By displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation from Viet Nam’s national grid, the project contributes directly to the country’s clean energy transition while strengthening energy security.

Ensuring Integrity Through Robust Standards

The project applies the internationally recognized ACM0002 methodology (Version 21.0) for grid-connected renewable electricity generation and has undergone a comprehensive validation and verification process.

Its additionality has been demonstrated through investment and common practice analyses, confirming that carbon finance plays a critical role in enabling the project.

Mr. Chaphamon Chantarapongphan, President of Super Carbon X Co., Ltd., said:
“LOC NINH 1, 2 and 3 stands as a milestone in Viet Nam’s renewable energy journey. Beyond delivering clean energy, the project supports local communities through job creation, infrastructure development, and long-term socio-economic value. As we move forward with GCC carbon credit certification, we reaffirm our commitment to transparency, environmental integrity, and inclusive growth, demonstrating how carbon markets can deliver both climate impact and community benefits.”

Positive Impacts for People and Planet

Beyond emission reductions, the project delivers a range of environmental, social, and economic benefits that contribute to long-term sustainable development in the region.

  • Expanding Clean Energy Access:

By supplying renewable electricity to Viet Nam’s national grid, the project supports the country’s transition away from fossil fuel-based power generation. It enhances the availability of reliable and clean energy for households, businesses, and public infrastructure, contributing to a more resilient energy system.

  • Boosting Local Livelihoods:

The project creates both short-term and long-term employment opportunities across construction, operation, and maintenance phases. This not only generates income for local communities but also supports skill development and capacity building in the renewable energy sector.

  • Sustainable Infrastructure Development:

Project implementation contributes to the development and improvement of local infrastructure, including access roads and connectivity. These enhancements facilitate economic activity and improve accessibility for surrounding communities.

  • Environmental Protection:

Solar photovoltaic technology ensures that electricity is generated without direct greenhouse gas emissions. The project operates with minimal impact on land, air, and water resources, contributing to environmental conservation while avoiding the adverse effects associated with conventional power generation.

  • Technology Advancement:

By deploying large-scale solar photovoltaic systems, the project promotes the adoption of modern clean energy technologies in Viet Nam. It serves as a model for future renewable energy investments, encouraging wider replication and accelerating the country’s energy transition.

Advancing Sustainable Development Goals

The project contributes meaningfully to multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has been assessed with indicative E+, S+, and Gold SDG+ labels, reflecting its strong environmental and social performance.

  • sdg-5

    SDG 5 – Gender Equality

The project encourages inclusive workforce participation and supports equal opportunities, contributing to gender equality and empowerment within the local context.

  • sdg-7

SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy

By increasing the share of renewable energy in Viet Nam’s grid, the project supports access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy, strengthening the country’s clean energy infrastructure.

  • sdg-8

SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

Through job creation, skill development, and local economic engagement, the project supports inclusive economic growth and promotes decent work opportunities in the region.

  • sdg-13

    SDG 13 – Climate Action

The project delivers verified and measurable emission reductions by displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation, directly contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.

Scaling Renewable Energy in Viet Nam

This registration adds to GCC’s expanding portfolio in Viet Nam, which also includes projects developed by Super Carbon X Company Limited such as Binh An Solar Power Project, Phan Lam Solar Power Project, Sinenergy Solar Power Project, Thinh Long Solar Power Project, and Van Giao Solar Power 1 and 2 further reinforcing GCC’s growing presence in the country’s renewable energy sector.

LOC NINH 1, 2 and 3 highlights the scalability of renewable energy solutions in emerging markets. By combining high-quality carbon credit generation with tangible sustainable development benefits, the project reinforces GCC’s commitment to advancing credible carbon markets and accelerating global climate action.
