In a recent Times of Oman article, the Global Carbon Council was featured for its contribution to the national workshop hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman in cooperation with IATA. The event focused on enhancing local understanding and implementation of the CORSIA framework under the UNFCCC.
Representing GCC, Amit Thusu, Senior Director, shared insights on the accreditation process for CORSIA-eligible programs and moderated a session on identifying opportunities for Omani carbon projects. Discussions emphasized alignment with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, cross-border cooperation, and practical strategies to unlock sustainable aviation benefits.
The risk of non-application of corresponding adjustment will be addressed via buffer deduction by GCC Program and therefore airlines do not carry any risk. Airlines can just choose the projects tagged with Corsia first phase label on public GCC registry and buy Approved Carbon Credits (ACCs) for offsetting to ensure CORSIA compliance without any risk to them.
