GCC Showcases Carbon Market Pathways at ISHRAE TECHCON-2026 in Doha

The NextGEN HVAC Leaders Conference, held during ISHRAE TECHCON-2026 in Doha, Qatar successfully convened HVAC professionals, sustainability leaders, and industry experts to explore innovative solutions for climate action and Net Zero transition.

Global Carbon Council (GCC) participated at the event and the key highlight of the conference was the technical session titled “Role of Carbon Market for Net Zero Sustainability”, delivered by Hemant Nandanpawar, Senior Director – Climate Finance & Stakeholder Management

In his presentation, Mr. Nandanpawar emphasized the critical role of carbon markets in mobilizing climate finance and enabling large-scale emission reductions, particularly within the HVAC and building sectors. He highlighted how energy efficiency improvements, low-GWP refrigerant transition, and programmatic cooling solutions can be supported with Carbon Finance through verified carbon credits, helping projects achieve financial sustainability while contributing to national and corporate Net Zero targets.

The session underlined that the HVAC sector holds immense untapped potential for decarbonization, given its significant share of global energy consumption and its growing demand driven by urbanization and climate change. Participants gained insights into how carbon markets can monetize emission reductions, enhance project bankability, and accelerate the adoption of advanced cooling technologies.

The conference further encouraged dialogue between engineers, solution providers, and sustainability practitioners on integrating climate finance mechanisms with technical innovation to scale up low-carbon HVAC solutions across the region.

ISHRAE Qatar Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and climate leadership within the HVAC community through such platforms. The NextGEN HVAC Leaders Conference concluded with strong engagement from participants and a shared vision to leverage carbon markets as a powerful enabler for achieving Net Zero sustainability.

The event marked an important step toward strengthening collaboration between the HVAC industry and the global carbon market ecosystem in support of a climate-resilient future.
