Global Carbon Council (GCC) participated in the Carbon Digital Conference (CDC) 2025, held from 8–9 December 2025 at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Bandung, Indonesia. The conference is the annual flagship event of the Indonesia Carbon Trade Association (IDCTA) and serves as an important platform for dialogue on carbon markets, climate finance, and digital solutions for emissions reduction.

Now in its third international edition, CDC 2025 brought together more than 400 participants from Indonesia and internationally, including policymakers, project owners, developers, investors, buyers, academics, and climate innovators. The conference theme, “From Capture to Credit: Digital Pathways for Indonesia’s Carbon Future,” focused on advancing the implementation of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and negative emission solutions, areas supported by GCC through its CCS and Nature-based Solutions (NBS) methodologies.

GCC was represented at the conference by Mr. Soumik Biswas, Senior Manager – Methodologies, who participated in panel discussions and technical engagements throughout the event. As part of the plenary sessions, GCC highlighted the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) signed with the Government of Indonesia on 16 September 2025, which enables Indonesian projects to participate in the international carbon market while remaining aligned with the domestic carbon market framework. The workflow for project submission and registration under the MRA, including relevant elements of GCC’s CCS methodology, was presented during the conference.

In addition to the panel discussions, GCC shared a dedicated presentation on its Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) methodology and provided an overview of the methodology during its speaking engagement. Further technical discussions on the CCS methodology were held with stakeholders during bilateral and informal engagements on the sidelines of the conference.

GCC also engaged with stakeholders on upcoming methodological developments, including discussions on the Blue and Green Ammonia methodology, for which publication is expected in the near term. Additionally, GCC’s peatland restoration methodology under its NBS framework was discussed with potential project owners, and the methodology was subsequently shared with interested stakeholders following the event.

GCC briefly outlined the role of its Carbon Market Infrastructure (CMI) as a potential next step to support the implementation of the MRA and the integration of domestic and international carbon markets, as part of broader discussions on market readiness and interoperability.

GCC’s participation at CDC 2025 supported ongoing engagement with the Government of Indonesia and facilitated new interactions with project developers, market participants, and other stakeholders, reinforcing GCC’s commitment to enabling high-integrity, transparent, and interoperable carbon markets.
